Who is this course for?
This is a two year full-time course and comprises of 18 units 6 of which are core. The specialist units are specific to Electrical and Electronic Engineering and provide a pathway for higher/degree education or technicial apprenticeships with large compaines'.
Entry requirements & Application
Entry to the course is by interview including a Maths and English assessment. Applicants will need GCSE Grade C or above in 4 subjects including Maths, English and Science.
What will I learn?
The core units include business systems, Mathematics, Science and communications for technicians, Engineering project and Electrical and Electronic principles.The specialist units are microprocessor systems and applications, electrical applications, computer systems, principles and applications of electronic devices and circuits, further mathematics for technicians, principles and applications of electronic devices and circuits, electrical installation, three phase systems, three phase motors and driviers, further electrical principles, principles of software design and development, computer systems, selection and applications of programmable logic controllers and computer aided drafting.Key Skills at level 2 and 3.
Assessment
You will be assessed in different ways e.g. In-course assignment, project work and written assignments.
On Completion Achievement / Progression
This course is the equivalent to three A level qualifications (UCAS equivalent points). There are many progression routes -, HNC, Degree and Industrial Employment - e.g. Modern Apprenticeship at technician level, Building services, Research and development.
