PRE APPRENTICESHIP LEVEL 2 ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS Printer Friendly

Who is this course for?

This course is for students who want a career in Electronics, Telecoms, Computer Networking or Electrical Engineering. You will learn the practical skills required in these industries and the theory needed to progress into higher level courses.

Entry requirements & Application

Entry to the course is by interview including a Maths and English assessment. Applicants will need GCSE Grades D or above in 3 subjects or a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy and Level 1 in Numeracy in the assessment.

What will I learn?

You will do a range of practical activities in Electronics building and testing. Electrical Installation. Programmable Controllers.You will study particular areas in depth: Telecommunications, Computer Networking, PC Installation, Maths and Science.

Assessment

An assessor will watch you doing your practical activities. Also, you will produce reports and written assignments for your theory work. As well as your work in college, you will complete 1 week of work experience, and take part in community based activities, and a team enterprise activity. At the end of the year you will submit a portfolio of evidence.

On Completion Achievement / Progression

Successful candidates can progress onto a full time level 3 course E.g. National Diploma, or into an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship in one of the areas studied. The qualifications you will achieve are NVQ level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, BTEC 1st Diploma in Engineering and 6 Key Skills at level 2
