Invitation for Interview
As a full time learner (and some part time learners) you will be sent a letter inviting you to an interview for your chosen course.
Interviews for courses enrolling September 2012 will start in January 2012. We will let you know your interview date and time, and where you need to come. If for any reason you can’t come to your interview, please let us know as soon as you can so we can rearrange it for you.
Assessment and Interview
You will be asked to complete an online Maths and English assessment which is an essential part of the process. You will need to undertake an assessment before interview. Information on how to access the assessment will be sent to you with confirmation of your application.
All full time learners are interviewed before they join a course. The aim of the interview is to provide you with more information and to make sure that you are considering the right course for you and your future. The interview will give you the opportunity to ask any questions that you have about the course and discuss any support needs you might have.
Offer
You will be informed at interview whether you have been offered a place on one of our courses. This offer may be conditional on you achieving your GCSE results, or an unconditional offer, that will allow you to enrol immediately.
Conditional Offer – A conditional offer is given when there are certain requirements that you need to achieve to get on your chosen course. Usually this will be certain grades in your GCSEs. When you receive your results you will be invited into College to meet the tutor again with your grades. If you have achieved what we asked of you, you will be able to finish your enrolment that day. If you do not receive the grades you expected we will look for an alternative course at a lower level for you.
Unconditional Offer – some of our courses do not have exam entry requirements, instead you might be accepted on your assessment results or personal suitability for the course. In this case you will be able to start your enrolment immediately after your interview by paying your £10 enrolment fee. You will then be invited back to College at the end of August to complete your enrolment.
Enrolment
We will write to you in the summer telling you when to come in and complete the enrolment process. This is a formal confirmation that your place is secure.
When you come to enrol at The College you will need to bring with you your confirmation of exam results. You will also be able to find out about transport, free meals, grants and any equipment that you will need for your course.
If you have any questions about our application process, are unsure about what course to choose, or you have not achieved your predicted GCSE grades then don’t panic. Give us a call on 01443 810054, email enquiries@ystrad-mynach.ac.uk or visit The College for help, advice and more information.
