The College Ystrad Mynach Energy Centre was established in 2004, in response to students who wished to continue their construction training with The College. With over 40 years experience in the construction industry you can be assured that your training and development is in safe hands. Our Centre provides training and assessment for industry professionals in Caerphilly and the surrounding areas, running courses throughout the year. We offer a full range of courses in gas, plumbing, electrical, solar energy and are accredited by bpec, City & Guilds and Solar Trade Association.
Gas Training
The College offers Gas Training courses for industry professionals. The centre is run by a team of occupationally competent staff who have been in the industry throughout their careers.

- ACS – Gas Assessments (Domestic)
- Gas foundation training - The Basic Gas Foundation course is designed to facilitate the transition of individuals into the gas industry who have no previous relevant qualifications or experience.
- Core domestic gas safety - CCN1
- Elements – CENWAT1, HTR1, CKR1, CPA1, MET 2, DAH1 AND LAU1
- LPG Changeover - CONGLP1 – PD, LAV, RPH & HTRLP2
Plumbing & Heating
We run a selection of training programmes for qualified practicing plumbers. The courses are designed to meet continued needs of the industry.

Electrical
Electricians need to undergo frequent training to be fully prepared to work safely with electrics, and to demonstrate this fact to their customers. We offer a full range of electrical courses for those already working in the industry, to compliment current and future industry requirements.

Solar Energy
Alternative energy is set to be a big growth area in UK domestic energy installations. With the increasing price rises and the environmental worries of using fossil fuels there is an increased interest in renewable energy sources. In response to the current demand by consumers to seek out alternative energy sources, the college are able to offer solar energy training courses for qualified practicing plumbers who already possess Unvented Domestic Hot Water Cylinders.
