Beth Griffiths of Bargoed has become the first learner on the Executive Business Administration course at The College Ystrad Mynach to be accepted at University.
Having left school after re-sitting her GCSE in Maths, Beth started training as a hairdresser but didn’t enjoy the course and left after 8 months. She started at The College Ystrad Mynach in September 2007 and quickly realised that the business administration course was something she really enjoyed. On completing the Level 2 Beth continued to the Executive Business Administration Level 3, spending 3 days at College, 1 day with CCBC on work placement and also using her study day to work voluntarily for the council. Despite the extra work Beth has excelled on her course and completed additional modules.
‘I have really enjoyed my time at College and my work placement with CCBC training section has allowed me to get a real feel for what I want to do. I’m hoping that once I have completed the HND I can continue to the BA (Hons) then pursue a career in Human Resources’.
Lecturer Sue French was quick to see Beth’s commitment to succeed. ‘Very quickly we could see that Beth stood out, her commitment and motivation on the course is exemplary. We are so proud of her achievements and we wish her all the best at Swansea!’
Beth, aged 19 is on target to complete her course in July and will take up her place at Swansea Metropolitan University in September on the HND in Business.
