The College Ystrad Mynach recently held it’s second blood donation session on 1st December 2009. The event was an outstanding success with 112 blood donations, a 27% increase on last year’s donation with many first donors at the event. The College alone provided a quarter of the blood required in Wales for that day (450 pints of blood are required each day in Wales).
Helena Vickery who organised the event said ’This is only the second time that we have held a blood donation session at the college and I am absolutely delighted with the enthusiasm shown by both staff and students. Hopefully young people who donate for the first time at the college will become lifelong blood donors. The demand for blood at this time of year is enormous and the college is pleased do all it can to help’
