The College Ystrad Mynach rugby team have been awarded the Welsh College’s Cup for the 2008/09 season. The Dragons beat Pembrokeshire College in the Semi finals, due to the second semi between Merthyr College and Neath Port Talbot College being adjourned on 3 occasions The College Ystrad Mynach became ‘default’ Welsh College’s Cup Champions.
As Cup holders, the Dragon went through to the British College’s knock out Cup. In the quarter finals the Dragons travelled to Shropshire this week to compete against Telford College. A tightly fought game saw the Dragons come away victorious winning 12-10. They will now face Godalming College, Surrey on home ground this Wednesday (6 May). A win will take them to the British College’s final held at Droitwich on 13 May 2009.
