Ystrad Mynach Students at The UK AHT Competition

AHT CompetitionOn the back of their success at the Welsh Heats of the AHT Hair & Beauty Competitions, Ystrad Mynach students were delighted to bring home more awards from the UK Final held at Blackpool.

College students Samantha Thomas, Level 2 hairdressing and Jade Wiltshire, Level 1 beauty were awarded 3rd and 4th place respectively in their heats: Evening Style and Catwalk Make Up. 

The team of students had all been awarded either 1st or 2nd place at the recent Welsh Final, allowing them to enter the National Final in Blackpool competing against 54 other colleges from the whole of the UK.

 

 

At the Welsh Final held in January at Deeside College Ystrad Mynach students took home 15 awards including Best Welsh College for Hair & Beauty.  

“We are immensely proud of the achievements of our students” said Gaynor Crimmins, Hairdressing Lecturer.  “These competitions have given the team a fantastic insight into the industry and the people they will be up against when they leave college and starting their careers”.

 

The School of Hair & Beauty at The College Ystrad Mynach trains over 300 students each year, with past students going on to work on cruise liners, Fusion Spa at the Bryn Meadows Resort and to open their own businesses.  Applications are currently being accepted for 2009 enrolment and more information can be found on The College's website
