Who is this course for?

This is a 2 year, part-time course designed to provide a coherent programme of professional study leading to graduate status for those working in the sectors of further and higher education, adult and community education, health professions, armed forces, police and fire services, public and private organisations who occupy roles directly or indirectly relating to the education and/or training of others.

Entry requirements & Application

Many candidates will have completed the Certificate of Education (Post-compulsory Education and Training) or the Certificate in Youth Community Education. Ideally you will hold a level 3 qualification in a vocationally related area and be working within the post-compulsory sector.

What will I learn?

The course is modular in design. Each module is allocated a number of credit points depending upon its complexity and length of study.In year 1 you will study social psychology of learning (20 credits), quality issues (20 credits), research methods (20 credits), wellbeing (20 credits) and complete a project (20 credits).In year 2 you will study current issues (20 credits), resource based learning (20 credits), project (40 credits), understanding organisations (20 credits) and educational inclusivity (20 credits).

Assessment

There are no final examinations. Each module requires the production of a formal piece of work in the form of an assignment which is assessed using an alpha-numeric grading system aligned to set criteria. Accumulation of grade points at level 6 constitutes the classification of the degree award.

On Completion Achievement / Progression

This qualification will enhance your career prospects in the field of post-compulsory education and training and beyond, and provides graduate status. The course may encourage you to undertake further studies in the same field of professional expertise leading to higher degrees such as MA (Education and Training) or PhD.
