ESF Work Based Learning

 

Work Based Learning gives you the opportunity to earn a wage while gaining qualifications and picking up valuable skills to give your career prospects a big boost. 

Where will I learn?

Your learning will take place in the workplace backed up by training at College.   In College you will work towards key skills qualifications, technical certificates and other work specific qualifications. 

Which programme is right for me?

Plumbing Student ApprenticeshipSkillbuild

If you are not sure what sort of work you want to do you can try out different jobs before deciding what job is right for you.

  • Training lasts at least 13 weeks
  • Can help you with Key Skills and job search skills
  • You will receive a training allowance of at least £50 a week (16-18 year olds) whilst unemployed adults will receive a £10 allowance on top of their benefits.
  • Can lead to training for an NVQ in your chosen job option

Modern Apprenticeships

The Foundation and Advanced Modern Apprenticeships combine work based and college based training and lead to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), A Technical Certificate and Key Skills. As well as other related qualifications. These programmes are no longer just for school leavers they available to all age groups.

  • Construction (Brickwork, Carpentry, Painting & Decorating, Plumbing) 
  • Customer Service
  • Engineering
  • Retail     
  • Team Leading

Modern Skills Diploma

The Modern Skills Diploma aims to provide individuals with the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge at level 4. It combines work based training and training centre attendance and leads to an NVQ at level 4 and an academic qualification.

What next?

Once you have completed your work based learning programme it does not necessarily mean the end of your learning journey.  Once you have completed your qualification you can progress onto further or even higher education.
